2021 Summer Virtual Show
While we wait for auditoriums to open up for bigger shows, Boston Bollywood is excited to be invited to conduct a mini virtual show this summer at the Starlight Open air theater in Central Square, Cambridge! The show is being conducted in an outdoor location to ensure that COVID-19 safety guidelines are followed. This virtual show will be a collection of video projects that dancers can sign up for!
Choreographers must audition 45-60 second long pieces. Dancers will be allowed to participate in pieces by audition only. Please read the following carefully before sending an email to [email protected] with any questions.

Piece Signup Begins: June 9th

When the rehearsal schedule is announced, each piece will indicate what level placement you must have in the Dancer auditions to signup for the dance piece. Dancers who did not participate in Season Eight must attend dancer auditions. Dancers who participated in Season Eight will maintain their levels from Season eight. They need not audition again. They must, however, ensure to fill the Dancer Audition registration form to indicate interest in participating in 2021 Summer show. The cost to signup for a dance will be $45/piece (no including costume).
For Semi-classical pieces, the audition is slightly different. Please read more information on the Dancer Audition page.

Rehearsals:
- Minimum number of dancers required for a piece is 5. Max number of dancers allowed to dance in a piece is 8.
- Individual rehearsals for pieces will start on June 14th
- 2 weekly 45-minute long rehearsals will be conducted over zoom
- 2 1-hour long rehearsals will be conducted in person (choreographers will be in charge of organizing these based on availability of dancers at a location either in Cambridge OR in Natick/Framingham OR in a location suited to most dancers in the group. Boston Bollywood will pay for the studio rental.)
Show weekend:
July 17th: 1-9 PM
Venue: Starlight, Central Square Cambridge
Show structure:
- Each piece will be allocated 15-20 minutes of shoot time
- Each piece will be given about 4-5 takes (one of which must be a continuous take for the audience to watch and cheer!)
- Audience members may watch the entire show or only show up for their individual shoots
- To ensure COVID-19 safety guidelines, anyone who is not participating in the shoot will not be allowed to attend
- Dancers not actively dancing must wear face coverings throughout the duration of the shoot/show -- NO EXCEPTIONS.
Costumes:
- There will be a small changing room near the venue. Hence, there will be one base costume for all the dances. Choreographers may decide to add layers (jackets, gloves, extra bottom layering like skirts, pants, shorts, shoes, etc.) on top of the base costume to make it more appealing for their songs
- Female identified dancers are expected to own black leggings and a plain black tank top
- Male identified dancers are expected to own black pants/bottoms and a plain black tank top / t-shirt
- Choreographers will share with the dancers what extra costume layers dancers will be required to source from their closets or purchase (not exceeding $25/piece)
Video Release:
- The videos will be released on a weekly basis on Boston Bollywood's Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels starting the week of July 26th.
- Boston Bollywood will share the exact video release schedule in the week leading up to the show/shoot weekend
- Each video project's team members will get the following deliverables from Boston Bollywood

- Short trailer/teaser
- Full video
- Boston Bollywood will share an exact release schedule for the above deliverable for each team
- Dancers must allow Boston Bollywood to share the above deliverables on Boston Bollywood's social media before sharing the deliverables to their own Social Media
