How do I register for Choreographer Auditions? Boston Bollywood is seeking choreographers for its 2021 Summer Mini Virtual Show. Teaching experience is required. This is a paid opportunity. Our choreographer audition process has changed from prior seasons. All choreographers must register online.
Before filling the registration form, please read the following instructions carefully. Registrations will close at 8 PM, April 13th.
Choreographers are expected to do the following:
Record yourself doing up to one minute of the choreography that you’d like to audition in one take. Cell phone cameras are sufficient to take these videos.
Upload the video to YouTube as an unlisted video. Here’s a tutorial on how to upload a video and make it unlisted.
Fill the 2021 Summer Choreographer Audition Registration formand include the video link in the answer field of the following question: “Please record yourself performing a minute of your choreography, upload the video as an unlisted video to YouTube and paste its link here:”
The Artistic Director will evaluate the audition videos and those selected will be notified via email on or before April 19th.
Few things to consider before you submit choreography:
Choreographers must be able to conduct two in-person rehearsals either in Cambridge AND/OR in Framingham
The in-person rehearsals must be conducted while all dancers and the choreographers wearing a face covering throughout the length of the rehearsal
This is an outdoor shoot and the dances may be performed on a surface that may not be the best for floor work.
No contact choreography is allowed.
Maximum number of dancers allowed to sign up for a piece is 8.
Depending on the changing COVID-19 safety guidelines, the dances may need to be performed during the video shoot with face coverings.
There will be NO changing rooms near the venue. Hence, there will be one base costume for all the dances. Choreographers can add layers (jackets, gloves, extra bottom layering like skirts, pants, shorts, shoes, etc.) on top of the base costume to make it more appealing for their songs.
Choreographers must share what extra costume layers will the dancers be required to source from their closets or purchase (not exceeding $25/ dance piece)
Notes: Your chances of being selected will increase if you do the following:
Teach the choreography to another dancer and have them dance in the video with you.
Choose newer/popular songs and remain authentic to the dance style of the song's video.
Choreographers may audition more than one dance. Choreographers must submit a separate registration form for each one of the dances being auditioned.
What is the registration deadline? 8 PM, April 13th
