Choreographer Auditions
How do I register for Choreographer Auditions?
Boston Bollywood is seeking choreographers for its Season Eleven performance. Teaching experience is required. This is a paid opportunity. Our choreographer audition process has changed from prior seasons. All choreographers must register online.
Before filling the registration form, please read the following instructions carefully. Registrations will close at 12:00 PM, Feb 4th.
Choreographer auditions will consist of two rounds. In the first round, choreographers are expected to do the following:
The Artistic Director will evaluate the audition videos and those selected in the first round will be invited for a virtual audition/interview for the second round on Feb 6th. Please indicate your availability on this date in the registration form. If chosen for the second round, choreographers who are new to Season 11 will be required to demonstrate at least 2 minutes of choreography. Returning choreographers may not be required to attend the second round. Please direct any questions to director@bostonbollywood.com.

Your chances of advancing to the next round will increase if you do the following:
Choreographers may audition more than one dance. Choreographers must submit a separate registration form for each one of the dances being auditioned.

What styles of music/dance are you looking for?
At Boston Bollywood, we strive to experiment with Indian/South Asian and international dance styles. It is, however, mandatory to use music from the South Asian Music industry or by a South Asian artist. Paired with a Costume Designer and an Artistic Director, the Choreographer will be on a dream team. Together, they will marry the vision of the choreography to the essence of Bollywood.

Who is eligible to audition?
Choreographers (18+) of all levels who are passionate about Bollywood!
What if I have never choreographed to a Bollywood song or do not know Indian film music?
No problem! If you are looking for inspiration, email director@bostonbollywood.com stating your dance background and a few videos of your work and we will take it from there.
How long should the final piece be?
The maximum length of the piece is 3 minutes 15 seconds and the minimum length is 2.5 minutes. Director's approval is required for shorter or longer pieces.
What is the audition format?
In the second round, choreographers will be asked to perform one minute of their choreography. They may be required to teach a few 8-counts to the judges. They should also prepare to answer questions about the following:

- Record yourself doing up to one minute of the choreography that you’d like to audition in one take. Please reach out to "director@bostonbollywood.com" to confirm that the songs you wish to choreograph have not been used in a previous show. Cell phone cameras are sufficient to take these videos.
- Upload the video to YouTube as an unlisted video.
- Fill the Boston Bollywood Season Eleven Choreographer Audition Registration Form and include the video link in the answer field of the following question: “Please record yourself performing a minute of your choreography, upload the video as an unlisted video to YouTube and paste its link here:”
The Artistic Director will evaluate the audition videos and those selected in the first round will be invited for a virtual audition/interview for the second round on Feb 6th. - Teach the choreography to another dancer and have them dance in the video with you.
- Choose newer/popular songs and remain authentic to the dance style of the song's video.
